MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
EMI Group has obtained ALERTA
EMI Group, a Colombo-Panamanian company which functions in countries such as
Uruguay, Colombia and Ecuador, has bought the operations of ALERTA, a
Panamanian company which offers medical emergency services to its 19,000
affiliates.
According to Lilian Sierra, director of EMI in Panama, the change of name
and image will be a reality on April, 2007. Currently, the company is owned
by the Investment Fund Tribeca Partners, whose President is the African
entrepreneur, Luc Gerard. Tribeca Partners counts also with Panamanian
investment.
ALERTA counts with the greatest fleet of private ambulances in Panama and is
owned by Robin Morlan.
"Panama is a very interesting market for EMI”, said Sierra. “It has a
thriving economy and it is, as we all know, attractive for many foreigners
who seek a place to retire; besides people like to be protected and keep
their health”.
Last year, Tribeca Partners bought the operations of EMI in Colombia and
Quito and afterwards, they obtained the Mobile Coronary Unit of Montevideo.
The company will change the approach of the business in Panama towards a
medical domiciliary emergency service. “Now, we are a multinational that
counts with more than 700,000 affiliates”, highlighted the executive.
It is also important to point out that Quijano & Associates, Attorneys at
Law, is the legal advisor of EMI Group and has been counselling the group
with regard to all matters dealing with this transaction. As a result, we
are the legal advisers of ALERTA (EMI).
